Peter Bess, M.D.
I grew up in Jefferson County and am a graduate of Fox High School. I attended college at Truman State University and medical school at St. Louis University. I completed my residency in Pediatrics through Southern Illinois University in 2010 and have been board certified in general pediatrics since that time.
My wife and I have three children and one dog. I read a healthy amount of science fiction and fantasy, and have a passion for nerdy board games. I’ve made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, and I know Han shot first. |

Hayley Pike, MSN, RN, CPNP-PC
Hi!, I’m Hayley! I grew up in a rural community of 700 people in northwest Missouri, driving tractors and riding horses on my grandparents’ farm. I moved to this side of the state in 2000 to attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I graduated in 2004 with degrees in Psychology and Criminology. I had a career in social work for eight years before deciding to return to school to obtain my nursing degree from UMSL. Since graduating with my BSN in 2016, I’ve been working as a nurse — most recently at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. I obtained a master’s degree in Nursing from Maryville University in 2023. I have four children: three girls and a boy. I’m a huge soccer mom and a Swiftie as well! My kiddos and I love the beach, live music, hiking the trails of Missouri, and trying new restaurants. I look forward to meeting you and your families!

COPE Program
Jefferson Pediatrics participates in the COPE program through Children’s Hospital. In the program medical school graduates who are pediatric residents at Children’s Hospital join our practice for three years for one-half day each week. First, the residents shadow a principal physician and then eventually begin seeing patients on their own. By participating in the COPE Program, Jefferson Pediatrics helps give back to the medical community by training residents on the day-to-day activities associated with working in a practice dedicated to pediatrics.
